Bowral Waste Centre (BWC) has been made aware that the EPA received a few odour complaints over the weekend of 26 and 27 June 2020.
While we understand that most of the odour has diminished, BWC is continuing our capping efforts until the landfill is in a condition that we consider suitable.
BWC is fully committed to implementing a long term solution. Tomorrow (29 June) an independent landfill gas specialist contractor will be visiting the site to start the development of a method (and installation) for collection and neutralisation of landfill gases as a long term solution.
Once we have their proposal we will implement it with haste and please be assured that our staff and management are doing their best to cope with this situation.
Bowral Waste Centre apologises for this inconvenience and will continue to work closely with Council and EPA to ensure that all License and Consent conditions are followed.
